The Mill, 2022

With the project "The Mill" Margret Hoppe focuses on an object that appears like a technical monument - water drive, transmission belts or handcarts suggest that. The mill, however, produces and supplies customers in the region.

Framed by the location of the mill on the watercourse of the Schwarze Laber the photographer depicts precisely the geometry of the rooms, crossed by downpipes, transmission belts and supply lines. There is no staff to be seen, it is the machines that are at work. Within the project, a separate chapter of collages is dedicated to them - the machines become figure-like actors.
