The „Guesthouse at the park“ is part of the architectural legacy of the GDR. It is a shining example of the buildings of the 1960ies that are nowadays in an unpleasant and decrepit state. Once one of the most representative buildings of the city of Leipzig hosting people like Erich Honecker, Erich Mielke or Franz Joseph Strauß it went to rack and ruin during the 90ies becoming functionless architecture. The failure of a state’s utopia brings about the decay or even the demolition of its architecture as well.
